Meet Linda, the educator behind K5 Gifted

K5 Gifted carries forward Linda Kirby's work as a classroom teacher, gifted educator, school counselor, and curriculum designer.

For more than 35 years, she worked with children who needed different levels of challenge, support, or time. Her practical approach starts with noticing the child in front of you and working with families and schools.

K5 Gifted is a family-built resource created to carry that work forward in ways you can use at home.

A page can't define your child. It can help you notice a pattern, ask a better question, and choose one small next step.

Linda's experience and credentials

Linda's experience is one foundation of K5 Gifted. Current sources, GradeRef, and content review provide separate checks for the public guidance we publish.

Her work spans classroom teaching, gifted education, special education, school counseling, ESL support, and math and ELA training across elementary and middle school settings.

Her approach considers academic, social, and emotional context alongside schoolwork. One score, one grade, or one moment is never treated as the whole child.

  • State certification in Elementary Education, K-6
  • State certification as a School Counselor, all grades

Where she's done the work

She worked in Blue Ribbon schools and taught in a self-contained highly gifted classroom.

In 2019, she was named Teacher of the Year by the Tennessee Association for the Gifted.

Linda's experience helps K5 ask practical questions while staying open to what you, your child, and your child's school notice next.

The goal is to help you notice patterns, talk with your child and school, and choose one small next step at home.

Arrange playdates with children who match your child's energy and curiosity, not just their age.
Choose books that match who your child IS, not just how old they are.
A curious, active child isn't a problem to fix. Guard some open time for imagining and creating.
When big feelings hit, help them move it out through drawing, running, building, or creating. Notice what works for your child.
Make room for unexpected questions. "Why is the sky blue?" can become a learning moment.
Share what you notice with your child's preschool or Kindergarten teacher, and ask what they're seeing too.
