Check, Move, Tell, readable version
Choose one fictional practice card:
- Someone says your grown-up sent them to take you somewhere, but the plan changed.
- An older child asks you to leave the group without checking first.
- Someone online asks for personal information, a private picture, or a secret conversation.
- Someone asks for touch or closeness you do not want.
- You are separated from your family in a public place.
Check first: Before I go, ride, meet, send, or change the plan, I check with the grown-up in charge. Practice: “I need to check first.” Name exactly who approves a change.
Can you move safely?
- Yes: Step away, leave the chat, or move toward a known adult, group, staffed counter, or agreed meeting place.
- Not sure: Do not move closer. Call out, contact the responsible adult, or seek visible help.
- No: Use the safest available way to get attention or help. Freezing, complying, or being unable to speak is not the child's fault.
Tell: Practice one opening.
- I need help.
- Someone asked me to change the plan.
- Something happened that made me uncomfortable.
- Someone asked me to keep this from you.
- I sent or received something, and I need help.
Tell again: Choose the next trusted adult and practice, “I still need help. Please listen.”
Emergency boundary: In an emergency, get the nearest safe adult or call 911 when you can.
Reflection:
- Who approves a change of plan?
- Where is one place you could move for help?
- Which telling line feels easiest to remember?
- Who is the next adult if the first person does not help?
Result: Your plan has four parts. Check first. Move toward help when you can. Tell a trusted adult. Tell again if you still need help.
